This set of Crack the Code© puzzles contains beginning deductive picture puzzles with an animal theme.

Puzzles are task-card size and progress through 3 difficulty levels: elimination, inclusion, and a combination of both skills.

Crack the Code© puzzles are the most difficult puzzles in level 1 of the Deductive Detective © series. Students should have experience with deduction puzzles before they attempt these. There are samples of other deduction puzzles at the end of this packet for students to try first.

The object of “Crack the Code” puzzles is to use clues to deduce a 2 or 3 picture code. Each puzzle has 2 clues, and each clue has 4 parts:

➺A set of 2 or 3 pictures. (This level has 16 2-picture puzzles and 16 3-picture puzzles.)

➺A column “Correct in the right place” tells students how many of those pictures belong in the solution and are in the correct place.

➺ A column “Correct in the wrong place” tells students how many of those pictures belong in the solution but are in the wrong place.

➺ A column “Not correct” that tells students how many of the pictures do not belong in the solution.
